Annexation of Texas Timeline
This site, maintained by the Texas State Library, presents a timeline of the principal events related to the annexation of Texas. Students can follow events, beginning in 1836 with the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico, and ending in 1846 with the governor of Texas taking the oath of office. The site also includes a list of the key players in the annexation of Texas.
A Shared Past: Texas and the United States Since Reconstruction
This site offers textbook-style information about the increasing influence of Texas on national history. The site covers the history of Texas from Reconstruction to the mid-20th century, and includes such topics as the impact of Civil War legislation, World Wars I and II, and the Cold War. This site was created by the Texas State Historical Association in collaboration with the Center for Studies in Texas History at the University of Texas, Austin.

This site is part of the Library of Congress' American Memory project, a wonderful collection of historical documents, photographs, and recordings. This site features interviews from the Federal Writers' Folklore Project of 1936-1940, a collection of first-person recollections about life in Texas. The site contains accounts from a cross-section of Texas society, including African Americans, Hispanics, and Native Americans, pioneers, cowboys, and more.
