Theme Project: Invite people from your town's government to visit your class. Ask them to tell you about some of the important rules in your town. Then prepare reports and displays about your town government to share with other classes.

1. My Local Government Leaders Who are the government leaders in your community? How are they chosen -- are they elected or appointed? What are their responsibilities? Do research to find out the answers to these questions. Write down what you learn below. Use another piece of paper if necessary.

Do research on the place to find out who uses it. Explore how your local government makes the place available to the community. Then write a short report on what you learn.
