The Big Idea
Framework Concepts: Similarities/Differences Students learn about trucks, travel, and the role of a truck driver.

Have a volunteer point to the different trucks shown on Big Book page 21. Discuss how these trucks are the same and different from the 18-wheel truck shown on Big Book page 22. Then discuss the purpose of each truck and what kind of goods each might carry.

Check for Understanding

Have students imagine they have a job driving a truck. What kind of truck do they drive? Do they work for someone or themselves? What goods do they carry? Have each student share his or her ideas about being a truck driver.
Have students make a chart that shows two types of trucks--those with two wheels and those with four wheels. They can cut out pictures from magazines and newspapers to complete their charts.
