The Big Idea
Framework Concept: Community A community provides goods and services to the
people who work, live, play, and learn there.
- Using the Big Book page 13, tell students that they will take an imaginary trip around
this town. Where would they like to go? What would they do? Who might help them? What
services would they need? Have volunteers trace the different places the class visits
during their imaginary trip, telling what they do at each place.
Check for Understanding
- Have students complete this sentence starter:
A community has places where I can __________ because __________.
- Have students make a mural that shows many of the places people work, live,
shop, play, and learn in your community.
