Lesson at a Glance
Unit 3, Lesson 1: People We Meet (pp. 64-67)
The Big Idea
Framework Concepts: Roles/Jobs/Community People have many different jobs and play
different roles in a community.
- Give students riddles that describe various community workers and have them guess
who the clues describe. For example, you might say, "I am thinking of someone who helps
people when they are sick. Who am I?"(doctor)
Check for Understanding
- Have small groups of students role play each of the jobs shown on Big Book page 12, having
other students guess each worker.
- Invite students to draw a picture of a community worker they might like to be. Encourage
them to share why they chose the worker they did.
