The World I See
Lesson at a Glance
Unit 1, Lesson 3: Jobs at School (pp. 16-19)
The Big Idea
Framework Concepts: Appreciation and Responsibilities Children learn to identify and appreciate jobs at school.
- Provide children with a display of photographs showing workers from your school or from another school. Discuss with children the jobs each worker does. Then have each child choose one photograph and talk about why the person is important to the school.
Check for Understanding
- Write the heading School Workers on the chalkboard. Have children copy the heading on a piece of construction paper. They can draw the classroom and show children workers, or draw a school building and include the different workers in the school.
- Invite children to make a mural showing the different workers in your school. They can draw and paste the pictures in the different rooms. This might be a large version of Activity 4: Where to Find School Workers.
