I. Urban Growth
B. To house the new city residents, people designed new types of buildings that were cheaper and taller, up to five stories tall.
C. As cities became more crowded, they began to provide services like transportation, police and fire protection, and boards of health.
B. Industrialization increased the gap between the social classes, and created problems, especially for the poor.
C. Reform movements arose to deal with the problems caused by industrialization.
