I. Confederation Works for Wartime
B. The Articles were used to show European nations that the United States had a serious government worthy of aid.
II. The Articles Define Government
B. There was no executive branch to enforce the will of Congress.
C. Because there was no national court system, disputes between states had to be settled by negotiation or in state courts.
B. Because the states did not always pay or pay what they should, the national treasury was often bare.
C. Many different state currencies and almost worthless money printed by Congress led to many problems in the new nation.
