Check for Understanding
- Have students imagine what it may have been like to be a part of either the Lewis and Clark or the Zebulon Pike expedition. Ask them to keep journals for a week of their travels. Encourage them to use the text as a guide and to be as accurate as possible.
- Ask students to draw a map of the United States that shows the Louisiana purchase, the Mississippi River, and the route of Lewis and Clark.
