An Exciting Year with America Will Be

This year, your child studied the history of America using the book America Will Be. The focus was:

Throughout the year your child also read related books from the Houghton Mifflin Social Studies Library.

Maintaining Student Interest and Involvement

Throughout the course of this past year, you have received letters offering suggestions of ways for you to support your child's learning in the Houghton Mifflin Social Studies program. We encourage you to continue this support and participation.

Just as you did in the preceding months, stay involved in social studies. Look for opportunities to enhance your child's learning. Films, documentaries, television programs, newspapers and magazines, family history, museum exhibits, community and cultural events, local elections, and library books are all opportunities to bring history to life. By bringing important events to the attention of your son or daughter, you communicate to your child the belief that the study of history is not just a subject to be studied at school, but rather, an important part of our lives.
