- Have volunteers supply the details for the main headings: Computer Boom, Pacific Rim Trade, and University System. Discuss with them how their lives may have been affected by the growth and change in these three areas.

- Have students write job advertisements based on the lesson. They should include the fields of technology, movie-making, export-import trade, and education.
- Ask three groups to design symbols focusing on the fields of technology, trade, and education. Each group can place their symbols on an outline map of California, showing California's growing industries.
