Unit 2: The Land and the First Americans
Native American Website for Children
Brought to you by teachers at the Alvarado Elementary School in Union City, California, this is an interesting, accessible, and content-rich site geared specifically for young students. The site provides a well-organized and in-depth presentation of four Native American cultures in the U.S. (Cheyenne, Navajo, Kwakiutl, and Inuit) and expresses a sense of wonder and respect in learning about Native Americans through their land, animals, music, art, and literature. The site also includes extensive teacher resources, especially curriculum links and literature tie-ins.
