The Big Idea
Framework Concepts: Scarcity and Interdependence We can save our natural resources and conserve our environment.
- Point to objects in the classroom such as paper, furniture, and glass and ask students the natural products from which each object originated. Then ask them what they think might happen if everyone used each object once, and then threw it away. Lead the discussion to include reasons why we should conserve, or save our land and discuss the consequences of wasting or destroying these natural resources.

Check for Understanding
- Ask students to list four ways we can conserve our natural resources.
- Have students illustrate a poster titled "Saving Our Natural Resources." Tell them to include in their illustrations at least six ways we can work together to conserve the environment.
