Before she was ten years old, this person's parents died and she lived with her grandparents. As a little girl, she was often very lonely and scared of many things. But when she grew up, she ran a girls' school and taught history and reading. She worked to make new jobs for the poor. She married Franklin Roosevelt, who became President of the United States. When he could not travel and make speeches, she would do it for him. She also made speeches all over the world asking that all people be treated the same. Even after her husband died, she worked hard to make people's lives better.
Ask students if they know who this person is, and identify her as Eleanor Roosevelt.
Eleanor Roosevelt helped other people.
