I Know a Place
Lesson at a Glance
Unit 3, Lesson 2: From Kimi's House (pp. 84-87)
The Big Idea
Framework Concept: Location A suburb is located near a city.
- Draw a venn diagram on the board. In one circle, have students name things they might see in a suburb. In the other, have them name things they might see in a city. Then in the overlapping center, have them name things they find in both. Discuss how the two locations are alike and different.
Check for Understanding
- Have students write and draw about a day they spend with Kimi in Greenwood.
- Have students make a puzzle. First have them draw a suburban scene on one side of a piece of construction paper. On the other, they should draw a city scene. They may want to draw Kimi having fun in each location. Then show them how to cut the paper into puzzle pieces. Students can trade and solve each other's puzzles.
