Students use a map scale to determine actual distances. They draw a map to scale and evaluate the merits of maps drawn to scale.

You can use an Assessment Rubric to assess students' mastery of the objectives.

  1. Select a part of your school to map.

  2. Use steps to measure distances.

  3. Record the dimensions of each room.

  4. Draw your map to show relative distances.

  5. Give your map a scale and a title.
