Students examine the state of Earth's natural resources. Students describe uses of natural resources. Students explain the ways in which people interact with natural resources and identify ways natural resources are protected and threatened, managed and mismanaged.

• Magazine or newspaper

1. Collect headlines about Earth's natural resources.

2. Find the location of each story on the map.

3. Pin a string from the location on the map to the headline.

4. Give your map a title.

• Identify ways Earth's resources are protected and threatened.
• Describe efforts to manage natural resources in your community.
