Critter Beauty Contest

Now that you have created your micromenagerie, you will be staging a beauty contest to be judged by your teacher or invited guests. But this is no ordinary beauty contest – this is a "Critter Beauty Contest!" Here are some rules and guidelines your judges might use.

In the category of

  1. Biggest
    • Which ones appear to be the biggest?
    • Using various measuring devices, determine which one actually is tallest and widest.
  2. Prettiest
    • Which one has the greatest variety and brightness of colors?
    • Which one is the most appealing in terms of shape?
  3. Most scary
    • Which of the models could play the lead in a new horror movie called The Critter That Ate Idaho?
    • Which model looks like someone's worst nightmare?
  4. Most Creative
    • Which model seems to be made from the largest variety of different materials?
    • Which model is made of the most unusual materials?
    • Are any models able to move? Which one has the most interesting movement?
Make up some categories and guidelines of your own. Then add one last category: which critter is the most scientifically accurate model?

Award ribbons to all the winners and display the models in the classroom for others to enjoy.
