Unit 6E, Earth's Natural Resources
Unit Project: Creating a Natural-Resources Newsmagazine
You will be developing a newsmagazine that is devoted to telling your community
about natural resources. You'll feature articles on topics such as conservation,
recycling, and alternate energy sources.
Project Link 1 (Chapter 1, page E15)
Create a natural-resources newsmagazine. Choose a topic that deals with how
important it is to make sure that clean water, clean air, or forests are
protected in your community. Write a story or news article for your magazine.
Elect a managing editor, layout designer, and photo director to oversee the
publication of your magazine. (A managing editor is someone who assigns articles
and reviews the writing. A layout designer decides how the pages will look. A
photo editor is someone who finds or takes photographs to illustrate the
magazine.)

Use the Internet to research other types of energy sources, such as solar energy,
hydroelectric energy, and wind power. Choose one of these energy sources and
write an article for your newsmagazine that tells how that energy source is now
being used.
