Unit 6C, Shaping Earth's Surface
Unit Project: Investigating Earth's Surface
Investigate and report on whether soil erosion, earthquakes, flooding, sea
surges, and volcanic eruptions happen in your community.
Project Link 1 (Chapter 1, page C17)
Does your community have areas where soil is being eroded by water or wind?
Construct a model, make a poster, draw a map, take some photographs, or write a
report that shows how rivers, wind, or ice change the land surface where you
live. Design your project to be part of a display.

Where, Oh Where, Has Our Precious Soil Gone?
Project Link 2 (Chapter 2, page C37)
Does the area where you live experience any of these natural events: earthquakes,
flooding, sea surges, or volcanic eruptions? What are the dangers associated with
each of these natural disasters? For your Unit Project, develop an exhibit that
will inform people of what the danger is in each of these events and how to
prepare for such an emergency.
