Find the ie/ei Words (visual/kinesthetic) Have students divide a sheet of paper into twelve or sixteen one-inch squares. Ask them to think of a shape, a letter, or a number. In the squares that will form the design, have them write spelling words in which ie or ei spells the sound  .
In the other squares, they will write spelling words in which ie or ei spells some other sound. Words can be used more than once if necessary.
Then have students exchange papers with classmates and find the design in each other's puzzles by coloring the squares with the words.
