Match Game

Have students work in small groups. Ask each group to make three cards for the word lose and three for loose, as well as a card for each of the endings/letters -en, -er, -est, -ly, -ing, t, plus one that reads no ending. Have them shuffle the cards and place the word cards and the endings cards in separate piles, facedown. Group members then take turns choosing a word card and an ending card. If the ending does not go with the word, they choose another ending until they find one that does or until they draw the no ending card. They then spell the word plus any ending and use it in a sentence.
