Spelling Shell
(visual/oral/auditory/kinesthetic)

Have students draw a turtle with 24 boxes spiraling out from the center to show the pattern on its shell. Write the Basic Words on the shell, with the first syllable of one word in one box and the second syllable of that same word in the next box. Tell children to remember to divide each word between the consonants. When students have finished, have pairs of children exchange turtles and read the list of words from their partner's paper.
