Contraction Bugs
(visual/kinesthetic)
Suggest partners make contraction bugs. For each bug, children should cut the following from colored paper: three circles for the body, six legs, and one head.
Children glue the pieces together to make a bug, attaching two legs to each circle in the body. They write a contraction on each body segment and the two words that make up the contraction on the attached legs. Children may wish to paint a mural of a garden or a forest and paste their bugs on the mural.
