Make an |ou| Town
(visual/auditory/kinesthetic)
On large drawing paper, have children draw a town with two main streets, Ou Street and Ow Street. Along each street, have them draw homes. On each home, children write a pair of rhyming words with the |ou| sound spelling that matches the street name. Children can begin thinking of rhyming pairs by looking at their spelling words. Encourage them to use a dictionary to check the spellings of additional words.
