Folding Word Strips
(visual/oral/auditory/kinesthetic)
Have children brainstorm words that end with -eak and check the spellings in a dictionary. Provide children with strips of paper.
On the left side of each strip, have them write the beginning consonant or consonant cluster for each word they thought of. Have them fold the right side of each strip over to make a flap. On the flap, they write eak. Children can exchange word strips with a partner. Partners look at each open strip and try to guess the -eak word. Then they fold the flap to confirm their prediction and use the word in a sentence. More -eak words.
