To enhance their understanding of Native American history, students will learn more about Indians of the Great Plains.

What You Need

  • Access to the Internet and/or reference books containing information about the Lakota and other tribes of the Great Plains during the 1800s

What To Do

  1. Form your class into small groups. Ask each group to research one aspect of Great Plains Indian life, such as customs, tools and weapons, food, or art.
  2. Have each group prepare a report on their findings, including illustrations when possible. Ask each group to present its report to the class.
