The Path to Adventure
Art
Students will create a board game based on one of the adventure stories from this theme.
What You Need
- Cardboard/tagboard
- Scissors, colored felt-tip pens
- Poster board
- Various board games as samples
- Copies of the stories from this theme
- Game Needs list
- Spinners or dice
- Game markers
What To Do
- Divide the class into three groups. Assign a different story from this theme to each group.
- Tell students that each group is to create an adventure board game based on the group's assigned story. Distribute the Game Needs list and ask individuals to read it aloud. Discuss the requirements.
- Have groups meet to plan their adventure games. Suggest that they study other game boards for ideas and then use scrap paper to carefully design their own. Advise the groups to play the game through to work out problems before they make the final board and cards.
- Invite groups to share their games and play against one another.
