Children will make a shape book about an animal friend.

What You Need

• Construction paper
• Writing paper
• Scissors
• Animal shape stencils or patterns
• Crayons or markers
• Pencils
• Stapler or yarn and hole punch

What To Do

1. Ask children to pick an animal to write about.
2. Help children make their little books in the shape of the animal they chose, using the construction paper and writing paper.
3. Bind the books with staples or yarn.
4. Have children write special facts about their animal friend in their shape books. They may want to tell why they think that animal would make a good friend.
5. Children can share their shape books with the class.
