Vocabulary Development

Description

Developed by renowned reading specialist Dr. Louisa Moats in collaboration with Sopris West Educational Services, this two-day seminar is designed specifically to support teachers as they implement the scientifically research based instruction in Houghton Mifflin Reading, which aligns with the Reading First Initiative and No Child Left Behind legislation. The format of instruction in LETRS allows for deep learning and reflection beyond the brief “once over” treatment this topic is typically given. This intense seminar moves beyond in-service and is more like a college course.  It is designed to teach educators about the language structures being taught, how students learn best, and how to overcome the challenges to the process of learning to read.
