The Challenge of Learning to Read

Developed by renowned reading specialist Dr. Louisa Moats in collaboration with Sopris West Educational Services, this one-day seminar is designed specifically to support administrators, supervisors, and coaches as they oversee the implementation of the scientifically research based instruction in Houghton Mifflin Reading, which aligns with the Reading First Initiative and No Child Left Behind legislation. This seminar moves beyond understanding the routines and instructional plans of the program to teach educators about the language structures being taught, how students learn best, and how to overcome the challenges to the process of learning to read.
