Help your child find the first letter of his or her name on signs, license plates, magazine covers, and other places where you see words. Help make the letter with butter or jelly on bread, with squeeze ketchup or mustard, or with soap on the side of the tub. Use objects to create the letter, such as blocks, toys, or buttons. Write it with a stick in sand. Using different materials will help your child focus on the shape of the letter.
Continue playing with the other letters in your child's name until he or she can write the whole first name. Include paper and pencil, crayon, or paint activities, too. The only limit is your imagination!
