Fly Away Butterfly
You have been learning about the force of magnets. In this activity, you and your family members will use a refrigerator magnet to make a paper butterfly move!
- white paper
- metal paper clip
- refrigerator magnet
Ask an adult to help you cut out a butterfly shape from white paper. Be careful with the scissors. Color the butterfly. Tape the paper clip to the back of the butterfly. Draw some flowers on another sheet of paper. Let a family member hold the sheet of paper with the flowers on it. Now place the butterfly on a flower. Hold the refrigerator magnet on the other side of the paper, behind the butterfly. Try to move the butterfly from flower to flower.
Were you able to move the butterfly from flower to flower? What does this tell you about the force of a magnet?
