Home Recycling Center
You can set up a home recycling center. You learned in science class that paper, plastic, glass, and cans can be recycled. Ask an adult in your family to help you set up the center. Follow the directions below.
- plastic bin (labeled “paper and cardboard” containing two upright paper bags)
- empty plastic bin (labeled “cans, glass, plastic”)
- empty plastic bin (labeled “newspapers”)
Ask an adult to help you find out what kinds of objects your community recycles. Buy or make a recycling bin for each kind of object. Label the contents of each bin. Decide where the bins should be placed in your home. Rinse out all jars, bottles, and cans. Then put them in the correct bin. Only an adult should rinse out glass objects or cans with sharp edges. Put the filled bins outside for trash collection, or bring them to a community recycling center.
You might not need to recycle all the objects. What could you do with them?
