Make a Rock
You learned in science class that a rock is made of minerals. How can you make a model of a rock? You will find out when you complete this activity.
- 2 paper cups
- white glue in water (one part water to one part glue)
- plastic spoon
Ask an adult to help you add half a cup of glue to half a cup of water. Fill the second cup halfway with sand. Pat the sand down with your hand. Slowly add the glue and water mixture to the sand. Stir until all the sand gets wet. Set the cup in a warm place until the sand dries. Then cut off the paper cup. Observe your new rock.
What happens to the water in the sand? What holds all the sand grains together?
