Touch and Tell
How do you learn about objects? In this activity, you and your family members will learn how to play a game using the sense of touch.
Materials

- empty cardboard box with lid
- scissors (to cut holes in box)
- soft objects
- hard objects (no sharp points)
- wooden objects
- metal objects (no sharp edges)
- rubber objects
- rough objects
- pair of winter gloves
Procedure
Ask an adult in your family to cut two holes in the side of the box. Each hole should be big enough so that a hand can fit through. To play the game, have your partner put some objects in the box. Touch each object and try to tell what it is. Ask your partner to put different objects in the box. Now put the gloves on and play the game again. Trade places with your partner and play again.
Results
Could you guess what the objects were by feeling them? Was it harder to recognize the objects with the gloves on or with the gloves off?
