Weekly Reader Connections

Teacher Guide: Unit 2

The Weekly Reader Connections feature on Kids' Place Houghton Mifflin Math provides children with additional practice with the skills taught in the Curriculum Connection feature in their student books.

The Unit 2: Science Connection activity asks the child to answer questions based on information in a chart. The chart shows how many cubs grizzly bears, polar bears, and black bears can have each year.

You may go over the different names for different types of baby animals. Here are some examples:

  • Baby cows and baby elephants are called calves.
  • A baby sheep is a lamb.
  • A baby cat is a kitten.
