B. Choose a measurement tool. As a group decide what measuring tool to use to measure the walls of the fort and buildings.

2. Put It Together

A. Construct your fort. Use the Measurements of Fort and Buildings chart here on Education Place or on page 193 of your textbook.

• Measure and draw the walls of the fort and its moat on a large sheet of paper or poster board. Show the river on your drawing.
• Measure and draw the buildings on construction paper. Cut them out and place them within the walls of the fort.
• Calculator: If 1 inch on your drawing equals about 16 feet, what was the length of the walls of Fort Mose?

A. What items would you need for defense? Refer to your list and locate on your drawing any other items you would need for defense.

B. Write. Write a paragraph telling how your design is a good defense.
