Internet Links

Following are links to Internet resources for students to use while working on the Chapter Investigation.

Northeast Fisheries Science Center: Fish FAQ
Find illustrated answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions about fish and other denizens of the deep at this enormous and useful site hosted at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. You'll find many useful links to related topics, images, and information. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), The National Marine Fisheries Service, and the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) all have information accessible from this site.

Teachers and students may find answers to your questions here. You may want to use the most frequently asked questions to start a classroom discussion about fish and ocean life. Have children compare and identify parts of fish using the Fish Images section.

FINS: Freshwater Fish Catalog
Did you know that a pineapple sword or a green terror is a fish? Fish have been given some funny names, and you can look them up at this Web site called FINS (Fish Information Network). For more funny fish names and pictures, see the Catalog of marine fish and invertebrates on the FINS main page. You'll also find information about the proper care and feeding of your finny friends.
