Read the story carefully and keep track of your calculations.
- First, determine the total number of mother cows and the total number of calves.
- Next, find out how many of each of the following “types” of cows are in the herd:
- the number of mother cows that are still nursing
- the number of mother cows that are no longer nursing
- the number of calves that are still being nursed
- the number of calves that have been weaned
- Pay attention to the units of measurement used to describe the food and to the length of time in question!
