A Building of Tennessee Marble

Workers built a new Visitors' Center in Washington, D.C., the capital of our country. Builders used marble from Tennessee in the Visitors' Center!

Marble is a kind of stone. It is used to make many things. The new Visitors' Center uses Tennessee marble for its hand railings, stairs, and floors.

The center is built underground, next to our country's Capitol Building. Lawmakers work in the Capitol Building.

Visiting the Capitol

Many people want to see our country's Capitol Building. Visitors to the Capitol sometimes wait in line until it is their turn to go inside. At times, visitors must wait outside in rain or snow.

In the new Visitors' Center, people can sit and wait. They can rest and eat in the center. They can look at special things owned by Presidents long ago.

The Capitol Visitors' Center is a new part of our country's capital city. We are proud that it is made of Tennessee marble!
