Learn More About It
El Camino Real was the name of the major road that ran through many of California’s biggest settlements. Along the road, the Spanish built missions for teaching Christian beliefs to California Indians and other people. The Spanish also built presidios along the road. The presidios were like forts and protected the missions and the roadway.
