Meet the Author/Illustrator

Catherine Stock

Because Catherine Stock is the daughter of a diplomat (someone who represents his or her government in foreign countries), she grew up in many different countries, including Sweden (where she was born), France, South Africa, and England. The excitement of this background must have gotten into her blood. In her career as an illustrator and writer of children's books, she has continued to travel all over the world.

A Very Important Day is based on one of the illustrator's real-life experiences — the day she became a United States citizen. What unique experiences have you had that you could share with others through a story or illustrations? Talk over your ideas with a friend.
