Alvin, Robert, and Virginia Silverstein

Many, many years ago, Alvin Silverstein and Virginia Silverstein worked together on a scientific research project at the University of Pennsylvania. Since then, the pair have published more than 160 books on science and health topics. Along the way, they also had six children. One of them, Robert Alan Silverstein, joined his parents' writing team in 1988 and has written more than 40 books with them.

But the Silversteins do not just write books. Alvin Silverstein teaches biology at the College of Staten Island of the City University of New York. Virginia Silverstein translates scientific information from Russian into English. And Robert Silverstein works with international peace organizations and creates electronic books and other materials for Web sites.

The Silversteins have written about everything from tonsillitis to weather. Think about all the things you are especially interested in. What books or articles could you write about those subjects? Share your ideas with a friend.
