Nneka Bennett

Portrait of Nneka Bennett

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Nneka Bennett has illustrated a number of noteworthy children's books, including Vision of Beauty: The Story of Sarah Breedlove Walker, written by Kathryn Lasky. But book illustration is just one of the ways Bennett uses her artistic talent. She is also a promising animator.

Bennett's animation work has appeared in a documentary and in short films. One of her films, Sleepless Nights, won first prize at the 1994 New Jersey Young Film and Video Makers' Festival and also won an award in the 1994 New England Film and Video Festival. Bennett also received a Massachusetts Media Fellowship in 1997 for her artistic excellence and creative ability. She lives in Boston with her husband.
