Meet the Author

Although she has lived in Massachusetts most of her life, Patricia MacLachlan was born in Wyoming. She still feels a strong connection to the wide-open prairie. "I carry around a little bag of prairie dirt with me, like a part of my past," she says. This love comes through strongly in her books Sarah, Plain and Tall and Skylark, as does another of her loves—the sea.
