Theme 5: Heroes
Lou Gehrig: The Luckiest Man
Meet the Author
It took a while for David Adler to settle on writing as his career. As a child, he was known as the artist in his family. "Paintings and drawings I did when I was as young as 12 still hang in my parents' home," he says. More than 200 of his drawings and cartoons have been published in magazines and newspapers. In school, however, he followed his interest in mathematics. He majored in economics in college, taught math in an intermediate school for almost nine years, and got a master's degree in business.
