Meet the Author

Shulamith Levey Oppenheim was born in Ohio. Her father taught at a college there, and was an expert in the history of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. From him, Oppenheim got her love of travel and world cultures. Once she found an idea for a book on a visit to the pyramids in Egypt. She was charmed by the folk tales she heard about camels, and used them in her story.
