Revising Tips
- Write new paragraphs on strips of paper. Attach the strips where they belong in the narrative.
- Cut apart your working draft so you can rearrange paragraphs and add new ones.
- Compare-Contrast Essay: Use two different colors to highlight sentences that tell likenesses and differences. Then ask: Is every sentence in the right place? Do I need more sentences that compare? that contrast?
- Persuasive Essay or Opinion Essay: Underline your reasons in one color. Underline your facts and examples in another color. Do you have enough details to support each reason?
- Story: Find paragraphs that tell about too many events. Start a new paragraph for each new event.
