All his life, Charles Schulz wanted to make his living drawing cartoons. [That's the main idea. Take out any details that are not about it.] When he was a little boy, he read and loved all the comics. His father was a barber. When he was seventeen, he took an art course, and he studied how to draw children. In 1948 he began selling a cartoon about children to a newspaper. This cartoon was later named “Peanuts.” Charles Schulz drew “Peanuts” for the rest of his life.
